7. Democracy exists in an economic context. And economically seen, the United States is a once-powerful empire that is now in decline. As explained brilliantly in this straightforward video featuring American Economist Richard D. Wolff, this decline is a direct result of policy: 50 years of increasingly allowing wealth in the private sector to grow at the expense of the public sector. With national economic decline comes increasing hardship for most Americans, while the top 10% of earners continue to grow their assets and thrive. Loss of economic power on a world scale also goes along with a decrease in influence in the world. We must recognize this decline and do something about it, or the United States as a country will soon be at the whim of 'BRICS', the coalition of countries that already surpasses the economic power of the United States and its G7 allies. 'BRICS' is made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) and several more. To face the reality, and start thinking about solutions, watch Wolff's informative videos!

List of large companies who are staying true to democracy, according to Citizens for Ethics in Washington (CREW) Shortly after the violent insurrection of January 6th, 2021, 249 large companies vowed not to fund "seditionist" political candidates (those whose speech and conduct after the 2020 US Presidential Election encouraged the denial of the election results and hostile attacks on the government). Yet, by the end of 2024, almost all of them had gone back on their word, including AMAZON, Microsoft and META. Shame on you!!
