ORIGINS
Stories of friendship and inspiration
Hello, I am Anushka, the founder and steward of this “digital village”. I'm a proud citizen of the United States (naturalized), Germany (by parentage), Canada (by birth) and the world (yes, humanity and Planet Earth unites us all).
I was inspired to create this site by dozens of peaceful warriors, who, like me, travelled to Washington DC the weekend of January 3rd, 2025, to fight for our democracy. I was equally inspired by those who supported us from afar - praying, posting and messaging their Congressional representatives, and coordinating and organizing behind the scenes, all on their own dime and their own time.
All of us were following the call of Jessica Denson, the host of “Lights On”.
Jessica’s interviews with esteemed experts on election security and constitutional law, had brought to light the glaring wrongs being committed against the American people by some of our elected officials, our administrative officials and corrupt judges who have abandoned the principles for which they are supposed to stand.
Jessica reported on the failure of government to check election accuracy after it was clear that there were serious election security concerns that needed to be allayed by manual recounts. After no action was taken in Washington DC on that issue, Jessica, with the help of the guests she interviewed on her show, taught us about how oath-breaking insurrectionist Donald Trump was constitutionally disqualified by the 14th Amendment (Section 3) from ever holding a government office again, and what Congress needed to do about it. However, Congressional representatives and senators were showing no signs of doing anything about it. So, on December 20th, 2024, in her Livestream on YouTube, Jessica Denson asked her viewers for support in organizing a movement to take emergency action.
People stepped up in record time to organize the #14thNOW movement, and the website nowmarch.org was created. Within days, people from all over the USA (and even a woman from Canada) made travel and lodging plans, and got on planes, buses, trains, bicycles and into cars to get to the nation's capital.
On January 3rd, 2025, we gathered at Franklin Plaza in Washington, DC, peacefully protesting and listening to powerful speeches by

- political comedian Cliff Cash,
- constitutional scholar and University of Maryland Regents Professor Mark Graber, as well as
- Andrea Chalupa, host of Gaslit Nation, and an expert on authoritarianism.
We also plowed the halls of Congress on that day of January 3rd, 2025, visiting the offices of as many representatives and senators as we could, demanding they follow our nation’s Constitution and NOT certify electoral votes for Donald Trump.
On January 4th, 2025, we came together on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, braving powerful frosty winds. We stood, marched, spoke, shouted and sung our demands. We listened to speeches of historic importance. We remembered the victims of the January 6th riots 4 years earlier, when angry mobs, true insurrectionists enflamed by "election loser" Trump's rhetoric, had stormed the Capitol building. They had brutally attacked our Capitol police, destroyed public property, and sent our lawmakers fleeing. As we remembered these horrors, we knew that millions of betrayed Americans and concerned citizens of other countries were with us in spirit.
On January 5th, 2025, we met again, at the frozen "Reflecting Pool" beneath the Lincoln Memorial, to express our urgent pleas to Congress on behalf of the American public.

Even on January 6th, 2025, before dawn, a handful of us braved the snowy streets and the ongoing snowstorm, posting flyers near entry points to the highly secured Capitol area. We stood for hours in the storm with our signs, greeting Congressional staffers as they arrived for work.
After the certification of electoral votes was over, and not a single Congressperson seemed to have objected to the certification of electoral votes for insurrectionist Trump, we took our frozen limbs to Union Station to warm up and grieve together.
And yet, even whilst grieving, we started working again, unable to capitulate - as our very souls demanded that we continue to resist the demise of American democracy.
We were not alone. Jessica, and many others behind the scenes, also picked themselves up and continued the fight for Truth and Justice. That very night, Jessica aired another illuminating interview, this time with a data scientist who showed us how the publicly available voting data for this election literally fluoresces with the signature of manipulation (in particular, the, so-called "Russian Tail", a coin termed by Russian citizens who are themselves the victim of election manipulation practiced by their autocratic leader, Vladimir Putin).
As my fellow Peaceful Warriors returned home, I heard their calls for guidance. What actions could still be taken, in the 14 days remaining before Inauguration, to save the United States from descent into autocracy?
The fervent desire was there, to continue fighting takeover by megalomaniacal billionaires. And it was not just there with us. While mainstream media continued to give Trump's vitriol plenty of airtime, social media was exploding with outrage over the trampling of our democracy.
In the streets and on the DC metro, I would ask people: "What did you think of the election?" Disbelief and despondency everywhere. Many of my fellow citizens seem to have given up hope. Disappointed to the core, and having lost trust in our government, they had resigned, shrinking back emotionally like a snail into its shell. And that is exactly what bullies like convicted felon Donald Trump want.
The work on this digital haven for truth seekers and peaceful warriors was begun on January 9th, the day former President Jimmy Carter was put to rest. May his kind and generous spirit live on in this new online "Habitat for Humanity"!
